Another of Laboratori Cat Gairin’s relevant services are shelf life and expiry studies, which provide the necessary information to establish shelf life and conservation criteria, in order to comply with the requirements of current legislation and avoid possible undesirable health effects.
Thanks to its extensive experience, Laboratori Cat Gairin is qualified in the detection of chemical and microbiological components that can alter and put at risk the quality and safety of food and, therefore, of health. Performs analysis of allergens and substances causing food intolerances, applying the Royal Decree 126/2015 and EU Regulation 1169/2011 for the information to people in relation to allergenic substances. It is also able to detect and quantify different types of transgenic substances in food.

Food labeling
During these last years, dnota has incorporated to the project companies from the Air Quality sector (Exteco and SIRSA), as well as companies from the Water Quality and Noise sector (Cavendish Laboratories, Litoral Consult and Hydraena) and this year 2021 has incorporated two laboratories, ACCA Laboratories in Almeria and Microbial in Girona, starting its activity in the Food Quality Sector. With the acquisition of Laboratorios Cat Gairin, dnota strengthens its position in the Food Control Sector and its geographical position in Catalonia.
It is the only Spanish laboratory to offer ENAC accredited tests for food supplements. This service is aimed at companies that manufacture food supplements for human and animal consumption, and work with Laboratori Cat Gairin for their quality controls, specifically for raw materials, final product, internal controls and export. Also in nutritional composition and labeling, as well as in bacteriological, allergen and shelf life control.

]]>Microbial is a biotechnology company specialized in the development and production of molecular microbiological analysis systems for the agri-food and environmental fields.
Microbial was born in 2005 as a Spinoff of the University of Girona with the firm will to make a niche in the market for rapid food and environmental analysis. First by developing DNA-based solutions for the detection of pathogenic bacteria in food and water, and later by offering specific DNA-based analytical services.
The knowledge and experience in DNA analysis allows Microbial to offer specialized analytical services.

Microbial is currently located at the Parc Científic i Tecnològic de la Universitat de Girona and offers all kinds of analytical services, as well as the production of kits for the detection by real-time PCR of pathogenic bacteria in food and in the environment, as well as viruses and food fraud.

After the recent acquisition of the ACCA Laboratory in Almeria last June, dnota continues its commitment to inorganic growth and incorporates all the assets of Microbial to dnota, to develop and strengthen the area of microbiological analysis in food.
Microbial is also specialized in the implementation of rapid methods for the analysis of Legionella viables by PCR. Complete solutions (thermal cycler, kits and training) and method set-up and accreditation based on ISO/TS 12869.

Over the past few years, dnota has incorporated companies from both the Air Quality(Exteco and SIRSA), as well as companies in the Water Quality and Noise (Cavendish Laboratories, Litoral Consult and Hydraena) and in recent months has been initiated in the Sector of Food Qualitywith the incorporation of ACCA and Microbial laboratories.
The company continues to expand its territorial presence with the two new work centers recently incorporated in Girona and Almería.
With this acquisition, dnota strengthens its position in Catalonia, as well as its diversification, increasing its presence in the FOOD sector.

On October 26, dnota Medio Ambiente carried out control and monitoring of SARS-CoV-2 at G.V. El Zamorano‘s facilities in Sant Esteve Sesrovires.
G.V. El Zamorano is one of the main companies in the potato and onion production and segmentation sector, with facilities of more than 19,000m² in 14 unloading docks and 4 cold storage rooms, which make a total of 36,400m³in cold storage.
The company has reinforced its anti-COVID19 protocol over the last few months with this plan to detect the presence of the virus in its facilities. The samples taken on SURFACES and INDOOR AIR were subsequently analyzed with PCR technology in dnota’s laboratories. The main objective of the action was to protect its customers, suppliers and workers.
dnota defined a sampling plan, with the intention of detecting the different critical points of the entire production process and its facilities. Specifically, the processing and packaging areas were sampled, as well as panels, pushbuttons and goods transport elements.
The sampling points were 6 for SURFACE and 2 for INDOOR AIR. The sampling was intended to certify the effectiveness of the company’s anti-COVID19 plan, and to ensure the absence of the VIRUS throughout its production process.

Sampling of INDOOR AIR was carried out in accordance with the Methodology for the Sampling of Highly Pathogenic Microorganisms in Environmental Matrices of the National Center for Environmental Health, Carlos III Health Institute. They were carried out with high-tech portable equipment, and with high pathogen uptake filters, with a virus collection efficiency with retention rates up to 99.76%. This technology was used in the city of Wuhan for INDOOR AIR control.
The sampling carried out in INDOOR AIR, defines dnota as an innovative company capable of providing a service that integrates the 3 parameters in which the contagion can be transmitted, such as AIR, WATER and SURFACES, unique service in the market .
G.V. El Zamorano is positioned as one of the most innovative companies in the control of its facilities and the care of its employees.
In the dnota laboratory, the measurement technique recommended by WHO, RT PCR,with high sensitivity (detects low concentrations of the virus) and specificity (effectively differentiates SARS-CoV-2 from other similar coronavirus species), was used in the 8 samples received.
dnota plans to continue supporting the control of SARS-CoV-2 in any type of facility and sector, with the intention of reducing contagion among the population and for the peace of mind of workers in their workplaces.
